Task Force 2:
Agriculture & Livelihoods

Farmers everywhere are adapting—sometimes quietly, sometimes urgently—to a changing climate. But behind every harvest is a deeper story about livelihoods, land, and local ecosystems. The Agriculture and Livelihoods Task Force is a community of project managers, practitioners, and changemakers from across the Partnering for Climate (P4C) network, working together to ensure Nature-based Solutions (NbS) become part of how we grow food, sustain rural economies, and protect our future.
Who We Are
We’re not here to start from scratch—we’re here to connect what’s already working, amplify what’s promising, and build lasting resilience from the ground up. This Task Force works at the crossroads of agriculture, environment, and human wellbeing. Here’s what drives us:
- Integrating Nature-based Solutions for climate adaptation: We support the shift toward farming practices that work with nature—restoring soils, protecting water sources, and boosting productivity at the same time.
- Sharing What Works: Across Africa and beyond, P4C and Nature-positive projects are already testing, adapting, and learning. We gather these lessons and transform them into accessible case studies, guides, and tools others can use.
- Shaping Policy and Programs: We help ensure that NbS isn’t just a pilot idea—it’s embedded in local and national agricultural policies, extension services, and development programs.
- Building Skills: From local cooperatives to regional governments, we help equip people with the knowledge and capacity they need to adopt and promote nature-positive farming.
- Supporting Livelihoods: Our ultimate goal is to enhance the resilience of rural communities, helping them diversify income, manage risk, and build stronger links between people and ecosystems.
Who’s Involved?
The Task Force includes a diverse mix of voices from the P4C community. Our members represent on-the-ground agricultural projects across Sub-Saharan Africa, all united by a shared goal: to make farming more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive.
- Task Force Members bring field insights, share learning, and shape joint outputs.
- Chairs coordinate meetings, connect with the NAbSA secretariat, and help ensure our work stays focused and impactful.
